I’ve only advocated the notoin of the third party idea because, contrary to your statement about “a few RINOs”, the party structure itself is operating on a premise of moderation. It is for this reason that Michael Steele chairs the RNC and precisely why both Romney and Huckabee were the winners at the CPAC straw poll (neither one is conservative).And so, as long as the apparatus of the Republican party still thinks their winning strategy to be through the course of moderation, it is futile for true libertarian/conservative individuals to work within that very apparatus.What is more, when people convince themselves that “third parties can’t win” and as such they act and vote accordingly, it only becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.The truth is, third parties (while they have not had electoral success to the degree that Democrats and Republicans have) can and do win. Lincoln was a third party candidate. Jesse Ventura was a third party candidate.But much more, third parties (while not having great electoral success) have had a significant effect on policy in this country.As to this:”I don’t know how you can deny that the Democrats have always been and still are way worse when it comes to bringing the “American people to statism”.I never declared that the Democratic party wasn’t worse with respect to their affinity for statist policies. What I did infer is that the Republican party is equally culpable (and not just as of late with the “few RINOs” that one would lead us to believe).Life is Life. Death is Death. A is A. And, Statism is Statism.It ought to make no difference whether one takes the fast track or the primrose path. If the destination is hell (and Statism is hell) we only do ourselves a great disservice by substituting the former for the latter.
